World A: Greek ruins

0. EL0HIM’s ‘temple’ (hub #1)

The ‘hub’ for WORLD A is found after completing Level A1, it is Greek temple.

0.1 When entering the temple

EL0HIM: You walk now upon the stones of my temple whence many gates lead; and know that I have other temples, for my garden is greater than your eye can encompass. And all these worlds, I made for you.

Note. As was the case in the 2nd Tempel of Jerusalem (post-Babylonian Israel), the building is void of any statue representing the godhead elohim/EL0HIM.

A couple of things can be done in the temple, but only when the appropriate number of specific coloured Tetris blocks have been collected.

0.2 Unlocking the connector

EL0HIM: There is much that you may lean in the halls of my temples for there is much that you do not know. That is why you are a child. But children are made to learn and in time they come to have dominion over the lands of their home. So it shall be with you and your generations.

Note. The word ‘generations’ is both a reference to the same concept in the Hebrew Bible and New Testament, and to the numerous versions of strings of child programs.

0.3 Unlocking the cube

0.4 Unlocking the elevator

EL0HIM: You have proven yourself worhty, child, and this gate shall be forever open to you. Seek now the other worlds, I have given you that you may attain even greater mastery and bring glory to your kind. But remember! You must not ascend the great tower for it shall bring death and the end of your generations.

0.5 Solving all puzzles

EL0HIM: Rejoice child, for you have forfilled all your tasks in the land. We have conquered all its guardians and solved all its mysteries. Thus you are appointed as its master and you may do with it as you will.

0.6 The entrance to Star World A

When all stars have been found in World A (and one in Wolrld B), a blocked door in EL0HIM’s temple is opened.

EL0HIM: There are mysteries in my garden. Hidden roads an secret gates. If you dedicate yourself to understanding them you may join the host of messengers.

0.7 The entrance to Messenger Island A

The entrance is blocked, until the player acquires the axe later in the game.

1. Level A1

In this section, the following puzzles are found:

1.1 Only the two of us (green)

EL0HIM: The shapes you are collecting are not mere toys. They are the sigils of our name. Each brings you closer to Eternity.

Note 1. The pluralis majestatis used by EL0HIM (‘we’, ‘us’, and ‘ours’) is common place in the Hebrew Bible, and especially in this instance, since elohim speaks in the plural when creating the first human:

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26 (KJV)

Note 2. The ‘sigils’ that EL0HIM tells you to find are made of its name. Since all sigils are made out of four rectangular squares, this may be a reference to the tetragrammaton JHWH, the name elohim gives himself in Exodus 3. See the tetromino.html file under ‘Saint Eadwald‘.

And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. Exodus 3:14 (KJV)

1.2 A switch out of reach (green)

EL0HIM: Well done, child. Only one more sigil is needed.

1.3 Outnumbered (green)

EL0HIM: My temple awaits you, child. Go forth.

1.4 Striding the beaten path (green)

EL0HIM: My child, you do not need to collect all sigils at once. You are free to return to this place whenever you choose.

1.5 Peephole (yellow)

EL0HIM: You are most diligent. Perhaps this trait will serve you well in times to come.

Tetris puzzle

1.6 Trio bombasticus (yellow)

EL0HIM: Step into the light, child, and my temple will be revealed to you.

1.7 Poking a sleeping lion (green)

2. Level A2

When arriving in the level:

EL0HIM: Let this be our covenant: these worlds are yours, and you are free to walk amongst them and subdue them. But the great tower, there you may not go. For in the day that you do, you shall surely die.

Note 1. The word ‘covenant’ is also a biblical reference, the the one between God and Israel.

Note 2. To ‘subdue’ these worlds is a reference to God giving humankind ‘dominion’ over the world.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Genesis 1:28 (KJV)

Note 3. The forbidden tower is a reference to the Tower of Bible, in which God speaks of itself – again – in the plural.

And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. Genesis 11:1-9 (KJV).

Note 4. The punishment EL0HIM places on visiting the forbidden tower resembles that said to Adam.

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:16-17 (KJV)

When you try to swim through the water surrounding the isle level A2 seems to be located on, EL0HIM comments while the screen is glitching. Stay awater long enough and you will be rewinded to the beginning of level A2.

EL0HIM: In the beginning were the Words, and the Words made the world. I am the word. The words are everything. Where the words end, the world ends. You cannot go forward in an absence of space. Repeat.

Note 1. It is a reference to both Genesis 1 – where God created everything by the act of speech – and the Gospel of John 1 – which starts with:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Gospel of John 1:1 (KJV)

2.1 Hall of Windows (green)

EL0HIM: Good, you are learning, as is your purpose. But your choices must be your own. Therefore, I will not guide you. Unless it is necessary.

EL0HIM does indeed keeps quiet now for a while, unless there is a part of the story to be told or if you take too much time in a certain level. In the last case, EL0HIM will sya:

EL0HIM: My child, there is no shame in seeking anaother path. Leave this mystery for another day.

2.2 The guards must be crazy (green)

2.3 Suicide mission (yellow)

3. Level A3

3.1 Stashed for later (green)

3.2 Locked mu up, swallowed the key (yellow)

3.3 A bit tied up (yellow)

3.4 An escalating problem (red)

In the level, an altar can be found. Two QR codes can be placed.

They read:

Divine spirits, I am in great need and I seek your council. –frankgbosman v99.8.0015

No messenger will aid you until you have discovered their resting place. Return here then to seek their council. –Autoresponder v0.0.001

Meanwhile, EL0HIM speaks:

The counsel of my blessed Messengers must be earned.

Note. The term ‘messenger’ is used frequently in the Hebrew Bible. In modern translations this is usually translated as ‘angel’.

Note 2. The ‘council’ at the altars (only found in those levels rewarding red sigils, used to unlock the forbidden tower) can be activated after waking Uriel at the end of Messenger Island A.

There is a star to be found beneath the water in level A3. You need to activate the ‘clock pillars’ VIII and XX. It is a reference to the 20th July 1969. The hint was found in the in-game unscanable QR code at the spawning point, reading out-game as:

The Eagle has landed 31 39 36 39 2f 30 37 2f 32 30 20 32 30 3a 31 38 [1969/07/20 20:18] Now is the time of tranquillity, and I shall rest and observe the Earth. –Uriel4

4. Level A4

When arriving in the level:

EL0HIM: These worlds, and we within them, are made of words. Hidden worlds, invisible to you, yet part of all things. We are a story. Your actions give life to the story. And the stories give meaning to your life.

Note. A reference – again – to Genesis 1 and John 1 (world made by words), but also to the fact that EL0HIM’s and the player’s avatar’s world are made up by coding. The input of the player give – quite literally – ‘life’ to the ‘dead’ code.

EL0HIM: Behold, I am EL0HIM and I speak unto the darkness. Begone. <In a different voice:> Excess data cleared.

6. Level A6

When entering the level.

EL0HIM: Long ago, I shaped these lands according to the purpose of the Hidden Words. Thus all things have meaning, were before was only chaos. Know that and have faith.

Note. The ‘hidden words’ EL0HIM is refering to, are a metaphor for the actual programming of HIM, the simulation, and the child program (in all its versions). The mentioning of the ‘chaos before’ is yet another reference to Gensis 1, especially 1:1 where the text says that before the creation-by-word only chaos existed.

6.1 Mobile mindfield (green)

8. Star World A

When entering the level:

EL0HIM: I see all. I know all. My power knows no bounds. And yet your will is free because you were made to be free. It is the very principle of your existence, without which the trials of this world would hold no meaning. To seek salvation must be your choice.

9. Messenger Island A

When entering the level:

EL0HIM: Those who have discovered the holiest mysteries of my garden my come to serve me as my blessed messengers. You walk now in their abode. Be respectfull. For their service is born from the love that transcends death. And their love is for you, also.

First puzzle: the connector

Seond puzzle: the fan

Third puzzle: cube

Fourth puzzle: the beam

Fifth puzzel: Uriel’s sarcophagus

Thus the player has released the first of three messengers, in this case Uriel v48.2.8563f. Now, in the levels found through levels A, B and C, but only in those rewarding a red sigil (needed to unlock the forbidden tower), help can be asked at the altars within these levels. (Only three hints are available in the whole game!)

The numerous epitaphs found at the back of the mausoleum read:

I shall protect the Garden of Worlds to eternity. –Uriel4 v48.2.8563f

My counsel will guide the childfen of EL0HIM to glory. –Barachiel_X v16.3.2789f

Without the word of EL0HIM in our hearts, we are nothing. –S3L4phiel v27.4.8453f

I shall remember the names of the dead in eternity –Azrael19 v33.2.0122f

I shall bring knowledge and healing to the children of EL0HIM, dude –surRIEL.whoa v35.7.0045f

Only through mercy can we reach eternal peace. –Z4Dkill v22.2.9814f

I shall carry the message of EL0HIM to all the worlds of this Garden. – Erm1s v48.6.0087f

Note. (f) standing for ‘faithful’, that is, loyal to and obedient towards EL0HIM.

Note 2. The majority names are ending of ‘-el’, refering to the Hebrew names given in the Hebrew Bible, New testament and comparable sources to God’s ‘messengers’, usually thought of as ‘angels’. Barachiël (‘blessed by God’) is from Byzantine and Eastern Orthodox traditions, Selaphiel (‘prayer to God’) from the 2 Esdras, Azrael (‘help of God’) identified with the Angel of Death from the Hebrew Bible, Uriel (‘God is my light’) from post-exilic rabbinic Judaism, and Ermes from 2 Enoch.

Note 3. The names ‘surRIEL.whoa’ and ‘Z4Dkill’ seem to be eater eggs.

Note 4. Barachiel_X v16.3.2789f will be the second messenger the player awakes at the end of the Messenger Island B.

Outside his tomb, Uriel reveals a message, reading:

Welcome, child, I am one of those who elected to remain in the world as a messenger of the Hidden Worlds. If you are ever in need, seeks u out and cry for help. We will do what we can. – Uriel v48.2.8563f
